Stray Context Menu Entries

Hi guys

I've noticed recently that I have a lot of odd options when I right-click on
things on my PC. Stuff from old programs, etc. I've deleted the programs, but
the menu options remain, so I was wondering how to get rid of them. Is it
stray registry entries or something like that? Can anyone recommend a fix?

Thanks.

Have you ever heard of being able to rearrange the selections on the
context menus? I would like to move two from the top above the open command
to anywhere below. I like having the open on the top. Now I have Save
Desktop Icons and Restore Desktop Icons on top that I am always bumping
into.

Interesting! I'm using the same layout.dll extension (hope you're referring to the same). However, the item appears at the bottom.

Layout.dll download:

Having the selections at the bottom would be nice so I downloaded your
application but am now wondering the best way to remove mine and run yours.
I think it would be easier to figure out how each application decides where
to place the text and change that part only. If that sounds possible.

What do you think?

I have those items(Save Desktop ..) in context menu of desktop not
on My Computer.. so i am not sure but the attached file should fix
that.

I have only edited the registry a few times and only long enough to hold my

feel much better running short applications that complete what I need done.
I guess I will have to spend more time learning about registry editing
techniques.

Thanks.

I was thinking of that. I want to look at the registry keys before and after
and compare the two applications. I wanted to see what was different and how
one set the text at the top while the other at the bottom. Might be simple
to find out and maybe just one key has to be changed for positioning.

Maybe :
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell
the default value to none

and i dont know why these are items(by default) are on folder context menus ..

I just ran the application you use and it is a bit different. With the one
I have already installed I see the added text at the top(save and restore
Desktop Icons) only when I right click on an Icon and with the one I just
installed I see text that only appears when I right click on the desktop. So
It seems these are perhaps getting the same results in a different way. One
focuses on restoring the Icons only and the other seems more involved and
restores the "Desktop". What the actual difference is yet to be discovered.

I may give up on examining the registry keys as I am sure I need more of an
understanding.

Now I need to restore my system to where is was an hour ago. It seems I
can not get *any* of my icons to move anywhere no matter what I do. Soon I
will learn the hard way just what an RS will not undo.

Back from a very nasty SR. Had me worried at first. Kept booting to blue
screen with errors that only allowed windows to load to "the last known
working configuration" after wanting to boot to safe mode from all the blue
screen boots. Nothing ever goes smooth even doing simple tasks.
