Strange XP Pro networking issue

P

paul814

I have two machines, one wireless and one wired. Both can ping each
other. Boith can get to the internet, both are on same workgroup, and
both have a DHCP address one is 192.168.1.100 and the other
192.168.1.101

Firewall is off on both.

The wired one can access files on the wireless one, but the wireless
can not access files on the wired...

Any ideas?

Paul,

What brand "firewall is off"? One of the most common causes of this problem
would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, and there are other
possibilities too. What brand antivirus do you use?

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

the only thing I use is AVG and I put system mechanic on it.

MY IP config shows the same gateway for all machines.

Paul,

If you've read thru any of the threads here (and I recommend that you do),
you'll note that personal firewalls are probably 50% of the problems reported.
Third party firewalls like AVG are known here for causing problems with file
sharing, even when "turned off". You have to either configure properly, or un
install.

And regards IP config showing same gateway, that's just one detail out of many
that are useful in your case. We'll try to help you, but you have to help us to
help you.

So read the above 2 articles, and this one, and try again.

Has the HP had it's operating system re-installed?

IF so, with HP CD or generic Microsoft CD?
