Strange shutdown problem

Hi all,
I have upgraded my PC with a Chaintech 7N1F2 mobo with an AMD Athlox
2800+ and 256Mb DDR (333) RAM.
Everything is fine (and fast!) apart from when I shutdown windows xp,
the PC shuts down and switches off except the power LED remains on.
However when I try to press the power button or keyboard 'PC on'
button nothing happens. The only thing I can do is switch the power
supply off using the switch at the back of the PC, wait for a minute
and switch it back on.
Only then can I use the power button at the front of the PC or use the
keyboard 'PC on' button.

Anyone seen this before? Chaintech doesn't mention it in their
FAQ/knowledge base and I've tried googling for an answer without
success.

Thanks

Chris Norris

Hi,

Have you tried flashing your motherboard BIOS to the
latest version ? Updating the BIOS can clear a lot of
weird errors.

You might also try to see if you have your jumpers/case
leads installed correctly. I had some weird power/reset
issues on my last mobo replacement - that was it.

under power options in control panel under the advanced
tab their is a area called power buttons,"when I press
the power button on my computer" check to see if this is
set to "shut down" and not another option
