Thank you for those responses.

However, I have 528 unique items in the column I am trying to filte
(which I believe should mean that autofilter should still work, it'
just that it will be returning 8000 or so rows, if it work
correctly).

Also, to clarify for the earlier response, everything appears in m
drop-down list just fine.

To be more specific, I have a historical database of records with date
from January-1960 to December-2003. I know that the records fo
October-2002, for instance, are 8000 or so rows but when I filter fo
October-2002 (literally 10/31/2002), I get only 62 rows instead of th
8000+ I should be getting. Also, every single unique date record (o
which there are 528) appear just fine in the autofilter drop-dow
box.

I've searched the MS knowledge base for memory restrictions, but
couldn't find any reference to it. Again, my worksheet is 60,000 row
long. Could this be a problem

I just tested a 60K+ row database in Excel 2002, and it worked correctly.

Select a cell near the top of the table, then select the current region
(Ctrl+*) -- are all the cells in the table selected? If not, maybe
there's a hidden blank row that's causing the problem.

I know that the records for
October-2002, for instance, are 8000 or so rows but when I filter for
October-2002 (literally 10/31/2002), I get only 62 rows instead of the
8000+ I should be getting.

If I understand you correctly this may be the problem, if you filter for
10/31/02 you will only get the records for 10/31/02. To get all the records
for October 2002 you would need to enter in an adjacent column =YEAR(A1) and
in the next column =MONTH(A1) and copy right down to the end of the data,
then filter by Month=10 and Year =2002. Use Copy > Paste Special > Values to
lose the formulas if this is the case or your sheet will slow down,
Regards,
