Strange problems

MRe

I have a user which was running MS office 2000 Pro, I updated their computer
to 2000 premium. In order to do this I removed the old pro then installed
the premium. Before the update, when she would open excel the default
"book1" would open along with "personal.xls". The personal.xls is the file
containing macros she runs. Now the only file opening by default is the
personal.xls. I looked and the only file in the XLSTART folder is the
personal.xls. If I move this personal xls file, the default "Book1" will
open, but the macros will not work. In order to have the macros work, I have
to have the personal.xls file in the XLSTART folder.

The next strange thing:

If the "/" key is pressed it acts like a macro is assigned to this ket and
highlights the "file" on the toolbar. I tried logging in as a different user
and rebooting the computer with the same result. This never happened until
the update on her machine. I do not see any macros running .

Any suggestions?

Thank in advance.

1. Hide the personal.xls
2. For the "/" do tools>options>transition, and clear the box that says
Microsoft Office Excel menu key

You were correct on the issue with the "/" key. (I thank you)

But with the default page. When excel is opened the default is
"personal.xls" Why is it not book1.xls? Also, before the update, when she
would open excel it would open the default page of "book1.xls" and also
"personal.xls". Personal.xls would be minimized.

The reason you don't get a Book1.xls at present is that Excel opens
Personal.xls visible so you don't get a Book1.xls.

Open Excel. When Personal.xls opens with Excel go to Window>Hide and hide
Personal.xls. Close Excel and say "Yes" to the question about saving changes
to Personal.xls.

Re-open Excel. You will get a visible Book1.xls opening(unless the shortcut
has been appended with /e) and Personal.xls opening hidden with the macros
available for all open workbooks.
