Strange network traffic

M

Massimo Ponte

I've a winxp sp1 machine connected to a LAN switch, I see continuous network
traffic on my internal LAN even if the system is Idle.

My network has an NT Domain with static IP.

I haven't any programs or process that talk on the network.

I've checked for virus, spyware, malware and all the thing the can cause
damage on machine but nothing has found out, the amount of daily suspect
traffic is about 150MB.

I've disabled all the unnecessary services that XP enable by default.

I try a lot of actions but no way to correct the problem.

I read many opinions about this problem but it seem no one has a solution.

Thank you,

Massimo Ponte.

Install a packet sniffer to see what the unknown traffic is. A good
free one is Ethereal, from http://www.ethereal.com
