strange message

On a new laptop, I get "digital line detected (pbx):
please verify that the phone line from your
computer is directly connected to a standard analog modem
or fax line", out of the blue. Has happened multiple
times. Any clues?

Additional info - the message comes up on login each time
the password protected screen saver is interrupted.

Try looking in the start up menu; I had the same message so I removed
the start up menu item for "Digital Line Detect" and now it no longer
appears.
