strange internet explorer trouble

When I use microsoft's Internet Explorer, I get "server busy" busy messages constantly, and the internet doesn't load properly. I use a 56k modem connection, and the problem definitely seems to be with internet explorer. When I hit "switch to" (since the server busy message doesn't give me any real information regarding what the problem might be) the start menu typically opens up. Hitting retry in the server busy window also rarely does anything but bring up the same window. I can't figure out how to make this stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be your cache. In IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files. You can do this in
the Control Panel by clicking on the browser icon or on the desktop by right-clicking
the browser icon, properties.
