Hello,
on my desktop I see an icon which usually symbols a graphic element on a web
page with a missing link (i.e. I see a red x in a square). I cannot delete
this icon because there is no trace of it in the Desktop folders of the
administrator and the other users. I even cannot move this icon or select
it.
How can I geht rid of this icon?
BTW, this PC is only a few days old and has never been connected to the
Internet.
Regards
Peter

This might be an HTML item that the PC manufacturer (OEM) tried to add to
your desktop and it didn't work properly. Or it is something that will
fill in once, you go online.

Right click the desktop. Select Properties. Click the Desktop tab. On this
page, click the Customize Desktop button. You should see a page tabbed
"Web." In the box on that page is a list of web items that have been added
to the desktop. Uncheck whatever is here. Click OK until back to desktop.
If the missing image icon is still there, press F5 to refresh the desktop.

If this was something from the OEM and you want to check it out later, go
back to the same place in Display Properties and replace the check mark for
that item.
