Strange Gray Boxes

Hello - I have a pre-installed Resume template called "Contemporary Style"
and I can't figure out how the gray boxes within this template were made.
They don't appear to be fields. They are not boxes made with the drawing
toolbar because I can't 'select' them in anyway.

Does anyone know this particular template and know how the gray boxes were
made? I ask because I'm trying to learn everything I can about making
templates.

Many thanks.

All of the résumé templates that ship with Word are constructed using tables
and those are the table gridlines (toggled with Table | Show/Hide
Gridlines).

Actually the gray boxes you are referring to are not the gridelines. When
they created the table, they turned on Borders and Shading for the Text
option. For some reason if you go in and look it doesn't show that it is on,
but it can be duplicated in other cells of the table.

I'm not seeing that here. There are some boxes that have shading, and
there's a gray drawing line anchored to the header, but I'm not seeing any
borders.
