Strange Font List Problem

Hi,

My font list currently shows the description of the Times New Roman font as
"mi" instead of "Times New Roman" so I must have changed it at some point in
the past.
It only shows as "mi" when I choose the option List Font Names In Their Font
in Tools => Customise => Options.
If I untick the box so that all the fonts in the font list are shown as
identical fonts, the description of the Times New Roman font in the font
list is "Times New Roman".
If I type in "Times New Roman" in the Font field, the correct font is
selected but the description in the font list is still "mi".

Unfortunately, I can't remember how I managed to change the description of
the font in the font list but I would ideally like to reset it back to how it
was.

The font list in other Microsoft applications seems to be OK, it's just the
list in FrontPage that has been changed.

I have completely deleted and reinstalled the Times New Roman Fonts and also
repaired and uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office but the font list
has remained the same.

This obviously isn't a show stopper but any hints or pointers would be much
appreciated.

Thanks!

still at it huh :-)

try:
Tools | Customize | Other - List Fonts in Their Font
Turn it off - this may effect all Office font displays too.
Close FP
Open FP
Turn it back on - see if that works.

another thought:
search your hd for cmdui.prf (there will be several) delete the one in the FrontPage directory (it will be recreated when you open FP again)

Hi Rob,

Yep, I'm still at it! :-)

I posted this twice in error as I received an error message stating that the
first attempt wouldn't be posted!

I tried your two suggestions but alas, no joy...

Any other ideas?

Regards

That about taps me out...I don't have any more idears :-)
You already tried TweekUI right?

Hi again Rob,

Well, thanks for taking the time out to look at this (irritating) little
problem.

I haven't tried Tweak UI yet but I will be sure to in the next day or so.

I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks again...........

Hi Rob,

I tried Tweak UI and there's an option to repair font folders which is when
the folder starts acting like an ordinary folder which in this case
unfortunately isn't so.

Back to the drawing board.....
