Sometimes...right after booting into Windows, an error would occur and ask
to send the error to Microsoft. Before sending, I looked inside the
technical data link and saw this:

C:\DOCUME~1\Steve\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER95c1.dir00\ZT38AD.EXE.mdmp

Any idea what program this is ? I searched the C drive but couldn't find
such EXE file.

Steve

The filename ZT38AD.EXE does not Google.
This is not a good sign, and it may be malware.

ok thanks

Well, it's hard to say what is what; so cannot say definitively how bad. Of
course anything generated an error isn't good. It looked like some kind of
dump file with that mdmp extension. I dunno.

Steve

It was a dump file, but it related to the .EXE file, which did not Google.
The mdmp is for reporting back to MS.
Why not rename ZT38AD (write down the bogus name in case you need to find it
again) and see if that doesn't quiet things down a bit. This will not affect
your ability to boot XP.

No, but you should probably delete it. Also, the file is on your C drive,
but it may be in a folder that is hidden under your current explorer
settings. Go to the Run box on the startup menu, type in "%temp%, and delete
every file in that folder that you can delete, including hopefully this one.
Reboot and type in %temp% again to make sure that it did't reappear.

Ken

well, it seemed that the file disappeared on its own. I went to the temp
file...did dir /ah /s...nothing showed up.

Anyway, thank you all.
