Strange Ctrl-S behavior in Excel 2007 (Danish locale)

Patrick

Hi

I've just bought and installed Office 2007 Enterprise and I'm
experiencing some strange things in Excel. For example, when I press
the Ctrl-S key combination, which would normally just save the sheet,
I get a warning (exclamation mark in yellow triangle) dialog box with
the text "No cells were found" (translated from Danish: "Der blev ikke
fundet nogen celler.") and only an OK-button is present. When I press
OK, nothing happens.

I have no problems saving the sheet using the toolbar or menu.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium Danish.

Has anybody experienced this, and does anybody have a solution/
workaround?

With kind regards,
Patrick

If you start excel in safe mode:

Close excel
windows start button|Run
excel /safe

And then File|Open your workbook and test ctrl-s, does it work ok?

If yes, then maybe there's a macro that's stealing that ctrl-s shortcut.

You can use these two sites to try to find that macro:

Chip Pearson has some notes on how to diagnose startup errors:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/StartupErrors.htm

And Jan Karel Pieterse has more notes:

=====
And just to make sure, did you hit ctrl-s (lowercase s) or ctrl-S (uppercase
S). Maybe the developer really wants you to use the ctrl-S for a different
purpose and left ctrl-s alone.

Hi and thanks for your answer

I tried starting Excel in safe-mode, and to my surprise Ctrl-s (yes,
with a lower-case s) works as it should. Now, it seems that when I
start up in "unsafe" mode, it works sometimes, and sometimes it
doesn't. I'll investigate further to see if there is a pattern.
