Strange characters in Excel

Suresh

The PC group installed MS Office 2007 on my PC. Since then
the character < is translated to <
This also happens on other special characters. Is there a setting in
Excel 2007 that I can turn on to prevent this translation(?). Or how
can I avoid this problem.

Thanks,

The symbol < is HTML.. Does this happen when you press the '<' key
or when you copy and paste data from other sources? It may be that
you have to do a find and replace for '<', or maybe if you're
pasting from another source do a paste special... and paste values?
Might work.

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, I am creating a TEXT file in Oracle PL/SQL program with
special characters <, > etc. and save it as a CSV file. Then I open
it in Excel
and this is when this HTML translation happens.

Any solution suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Suresh
