Strange Behavior of group permissions

Have an Access 2000 db in a mixed environment of W2K/Office2K, and
XP/Office2003, with file format as Access 2K. Error can be reproduced in
both environments. BE is on server, FE is on workstation using Auto FE
Updater. Recently, Access security (for one level of user only) appears to
be tied to network credentials. If a user in a particular network security
group logs in, he can't read some forms. I can reproduce the error under my
own credentials by added myself to the security group, for a PC on which I
don't have an existing profile. With the user with the problem logged in, I
can open the db with my Admin permissions and reassign the missing
permissions, and that user will be OK unless his profile is deleted. At this
point, that is my only option -- to change it on each user's PC with his
network credentials and my Access security. This is now happening at 2 of my
10 campuses. We are using DFS shares, and I have reset the permissions on
all shares by manually mapping to them. I"ve been assured that at the first
campus, all users are pointing only to a single share, but that doesn't seem
to make a difference. Can .mdw files become corrupted? If so, can the
corruption be consistently tied to network credentials?
