strange audigy problem

I have a strange problem with my soundblaster audigy soundcard.
I want to install the drivers for vista (5384), it looks like it's working,
but the installation is timing out.
I have had a working soundcard a few times, but everytime vista shuts it
down and tries to install new drivers (with the same problem described above)
Are there drivers around which keep on working, or is there someking of a
workaround to fix this problem?

I have Audigy 2 working in 5472... installed the november drivers from
Creative without issue.

What Audigy card and what Vista build are you using? That might help others
to ts your problem...

When you say "timing out", what do you mean exactly?
The last 1% of the driver install takes AGES to complete. Try walking away,
having a coffee and a nap and coming back later.

Oops... missed that you are using build 5384. My bad.

The Audigy 2 drivers would not work for me in 5384 either. Install bombed,
if I remember correctly. Used the same bits to install in 5472 and it worked
like a charm.

the cheapest soundblaster on the market in Holland.
