Straking Moniter/ VGA Problem

"My monitor has started showing lines lines that gray out the screen with
streaks. If there is a word on the white screen, there will be a gray
background blur all the way accross the screen. If there is a paragraph or
wide shaded area, there is a gray steak for each line. The line moves with
the print as I scoll. This does this in all programs. Brightness, contrast,
degauze, on the other settings on the monitor have no effect on the problem."

I have the exact same problem, and it also slows down my computer
dramatically and makes it freeze and restart. But I got farther than he did.
(I tried system Restore first)I restarted in safe mode, and my computer
worked fine, so I figured it was a bad Video driver. So, I uninstalled my
drivers, restarted normally, and everything was ok. The only problem, is that
I have to reinstall those drives, so that my video card works properly again.
When I did that, it prompted me to restart, so I did, and I got the same
streaking again/slowing problem. So I restarted in safe mode, uninstalled the
drivers yadda yadda yadda. So, now there is no streaking, but I am not sure
if I should reinstall the drivers. Also, since I did that, my computer has
been running just a wee bit slower than usualy, like, if I scroll on a
webpage, its hangs for a sec then jaggedly moves down, so I am convinced I
have not completely erradicated the problem. Any ideas? Please, all of your
help is welcomed.

Have you checked the support area of the video boards manufacturers web
site. It may be a known problem with a work around already posted. It would
not be the first time that a company put out bad drivers for a certain
board.

Well, does it matter that up until now, It hasn't been a problem? I have had
the card for about 8 months now and this is the first problem I have
encountered.

Check the video cable and also check that the video card has not become
loose in the slot.
