How do I stop auto replies from being generated to received mail. When I open
a received email a reply is sent to the sender indicating that I have opened
their mail. I have reviewed the HELP stuff for an option to disable these
requests, but have found none. I am using OUTLOOK 2003 with Business Contact
Manager.

Thank you,
Tom

You mean read receipts? This setting is set to prompt by default. If you
selected it to always send, you can change it in Tools-> Options-> button
E-mail Options-> Tracking Options...

The setting is under Tracking Options. You can change it not to reply or ask
you. Tools, options, email options, Tracking.

Thank you.

I have the tracking option set to ask before sending. I never receive the
notification.

Thank again.

Same here OL2003 (11.8206.8202) SP3 with all latest patches IMO. I may have had that installation once on Exchange, but it only has Internet profiles (POP3/IMAP) these days.

Regardless if I select

"Always send a response"
"Never send a response"
"Ask me before sending a response"

OL keeps on sending Receipt notifications, even not popping up the confimration box if I select the 3rd option. I noticed it though I couldn't find anything in my outbox as my connection to my SMTP server is SSL encrypted and OL is asked to acknowledge the SSL-key sending it's first mail since started.

Any idea what may be wrong and how I can fix this, please.
