Hi

I am wanting to stop access to specific users. How can I
achieve this? The situation is that I am wanting to stop
my daughter from accessing the internet, while allowing
her to run other applications on the computer. At the same
time I have other users (for example myself) who do need
to access the internet. I have created seperate users but
cannot stop usera from getting access to internet explorer.

Cheers

A relatively simple method, if your Hard Drive is a NTFS
partition would be to change file permissions to deny
access to iexplore.exe for usera. Though this would only
stop usera from accessing the internet via Internet
Explorer. usera would still be able to use IRC, NetScape,
email and all other Web based apps.

Alternatively, if you have a dial-up account do
not "save" the password in the connection settings, only
enter it at run time. It's a little trickier if you have
cable or DSL. In that scenario you may need to recruit a
third-party program to limit and monitor usera's internet
usage.

Matty.
