A customerhas asked if there is a way to totally eliminate the appearance of
Smart Tags in Word 2003. For example, they do not want to see the Smart Tag
that appears when they Copy & Paste.
I know that one can turn off some Smart Tags from appearing with
Tools-Autocorrect Options-Smart Tags.
This doesn't seem to eliminate them totally.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks!

Click on -tools- options-edit tab-clear show paste options

This problem arises from a misconception (perpetuated by some published
manuals) that these buttons are "smart tags." They are not. Disable the
Paste Options button on the Edit tab of Tools | Options and the AutoCorrect
Options button in the Tools | AutoCorrect Options dialog.

You may want to have your customer look at the offline
help (F1) topic page MS titled
"I see something unusual in my document"

It includes a section on the various Actions and
Options button icons and behaviors, under the subheading
"Smart tags and other buttons within text"

Just type the word 'unusual' in the 'ask a question here' bar.

Thank you very much for clarifying this information.
I owe you one :)
