stop/resume task scheduler

If I stop the task scheduler before restarting the win2000 box, I think the
task scheduler should remain in the stop state after restart.

Can someone confirm this?

No, it won't. Run services.msc, then set the starting mode to
"manual" if you don't want it to restart on the next restart.
