Hopefully that has got the attention of most people that seem to post here
with these problems.

For heaven sakes - everyone that has not already done so, check out the
following site and check that you do not have any mallware, spyware, hijack
programs on your system

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

I find it incredible how many people post here with the same problem over
and over again.

Maybe either MS or one of the MVPs could arrange for a standard post to
appear every day with some such message subject such as mine that might
catch a lot of the repetitions of posts here.

Here's hoping,

Martin

By the way, hope this helps someone.

.
Thanks for the post Martin, but what can you suggest for
someone who has installed the spyware/adware,
reconfigured their registry, reset security settings,
cleared hosts files, and still has the same problem?

Shawn, I need a bit more information. Which of the problems are you having?
Have you been to the link I sited and gone through EVERYTHING. If you have a
hijack problem, then maybe you need to use "Hijack This" which can be
downloaded at http://216.180.233.153/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip but make
sure you read the comments at the mvps site I quoted as it is not an
especially easy tool to use due to some of the inherant problems that arise
in its use if you remove everything that it finds.

I am not an expert, but if you post your EXACT problem, maybe either I or
someone else can help you out.
