stop playing with the system

As a long term Word user, I have now changed to W2003 (education) and I use
it for my lesson plans etc. I need the footer to show the file name and path.

With the old system this was easy. Click on FILENAME AND PATH and oddly
enough it worked.

Terriffic upgrade on W2003 now I get a Vhelpful {FILENAME\P} or square
FILENAME\P small square. Help suggested the curley bracket - HA HA -

Well done MS second only on the arogance to Marks and Sparks - is is
something to do with the initials?

As a long-term Word user, you should know that you're looking at a field
code, and all you need to do is press Alt+F9 to display field results
instead. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the upgrade -- this
functionality has been in every version since Word 2.0 and maybe before
that.
