Stop Messenger Window from Taking Focus

Is there any way to stop MSN Messenger Conversation Windows from taking
focus when receiving a message. I have many windows open and I end up
typing in the MSN conversation Window of a recently received messege when I
thought I was in another application. I hate AIM but it does have one nice
feature in that it blinks the task bar when a messege is received vs.
stealing focus. This stealing focus has caused me to send info to the
wrong person. Maybe I should just learn to type without looking at the
keyboard...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

PS. Anyone know how to automatically save conversations? Yahoo has that
feature.

Greetings Rob,

Actually AIM steals the focus, MSN Messenger does not -- are you sure you're referring to
right product?

MSN Messenger also has a built-in way to save conversations, assuming you're using MSN
Messenger 6.x, simply click the Tools menu in any Messenger window, click Options, then click
the Messages tab, and select 'Automatically keep a history of my conversations'.

Jonathan,

I had 4.7 on my XP Professional Dell laptop. Didn't know 6.2 was
availavble. I loaded 6.2 and see I can now automatically save
messages.... that is great! I was also mistaken on the focus issue I
mentioned in 4.7. I retested it yesterday and it did the blinking on
the task bar and did not take focus, though I would swear this happened
in the past. Sure would be nice to be able to hide some of those tabs
on the left.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Oh, but you can hide the tabs too -- just click the Tools menu, then Options, then Privacy
tab, select 'This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs' and click OK.

Glad to hear it's working out for you =)
