STOP MESSAGE: 0x000000C4

Ok, since some so rudely posted their problem in ym
original post, turning away from my problem, I'm re-post
my problem. Here it is....*frustrated*

Alright, last night I was on here and I was going through
a bunch of STOP messages on my pc running on Win XP, and
such message as BAD_POOL_CALLER, PAGE_FAULT, and a couple
of others were popping up. Finally my computer is
settled on this one error 0x000000C4 which I believe is
DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION. Well, I've already
consulted the STOP messages page on this matter. I've
run the driver verifier already, I tried a Repair
Installation using my windows disc, and still I'm not
getting anywhere. I've gone to the web page referred to
by the STOP message page, but I have no idea what I'm
looking at, or how to proceed from here. Ultimately, I'm
coming to the conclusion that it may be a hardware issue
instead of a software issue. I ran through my drivers
and noticed that 2 pairs of devices are sharing the same
IRQ. If I'm not mistaken, all IRQ's should be
individually assigned and not shared by another device
while another is already occupping it. So what can I do
from here?

Mantis, you know what you have in your system. Is there anything hardware
related that the drivers would
cause problems. ie: Old hardware Devices, Devices that do not have XP
drivers for them. Forget
IRQ's. WinXP does a good job of managing them and it's not unusual that
you will find more than two
devices assigned to one IRQ.

I can't imagine what it could be because I haven't
installed any new hardware in the machine since last year
which was a new video card, and the whole system was
running fine up until a little over a month ago. I try
to do a system restore a couple of days ago, and my
Internet Explorer came up saying that it had recovered
from a major crash, and it all seemed fixed until my
machine tried to install a windows update. Then I
started getting the same problems again. Other that
that, I haven't installed any new components, or
installed any new drivers in over 4 months. So the only
thing that has been installed are windows updates that I
have my machine scan for and install on every saturaday.
I've done virus scans, spyware removals, the whole nine
yards. That STOP message page I was referred to on here
has been the only thing that has made any sort of
progress right now, but its now locked at the 0x000000C4
message it seems. I've also tried uninstalling my video
and sound card having XP reinstall them automatically. I
really can't think of anything else at this point. So
how exactly can I get around the 0x000000C4 message? I've
read the web page, but I just don't know what I'm looking
at, or how exactly to proceed. What's my next step?

Can you boot if you hit F8 just as BIOS info has gone black to get the
menu, and take Safe mode?, If so it narrows the problem to a driver
that does not load in Safe Mode, and a Video one is a good bet. If that
happens I'd go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager
and look for the Display Adapter, double click and on the Drivers page
see if roll back drivers takes you to an earlier one that works. If
that does work I think you have been trapped by Windows Update supplying
a driver for it that is not in fact a good one - I would always get
drivers only from the makers.
