Stop excel changing chart axes labels when letters are repeated

Leslie Haas

I use the 1st character of each month as axes labels. When a character is
repeated excel automatically adds a 2 or 3 suffix. Excell may be confused
but I'm not. How do I stop it. Formatting the cells as text in excell and
setting that attribute for the chart axes hasn't helped.

Thank you

I have never seen this behavior in Excel. Just to be sure, I tested it
before this post. In three cells I entered "J" and in adjacent cells some
numbers. Excel did not append numbers to the J's. Then, I plotted the range
as a chart. Each of the 3 labels on the x-axis is "J".

Do you by any chance have some kind of add-in (or workbook code) that
provides enhanced charts or some kind of support for charts? If so, you
might want to look at that for possible causes.
