Win 2000 Pro
I cannot remove a Motorola dial modem (in remove programs)
without getting the "blue screeen" with the error
mentioned. If I shut power and re-boot ...no drives are
recognized. The only way to boot again is to remove the
card and re-boot. I still get the message: "cannot
register with sm56"

I just installed a NIC for DSL. It does work.
Any suggestions?

Can you physically remove the modem, boot up and then remove its entry
from Device Manager?
