Stop DC authenticating logons?

Moving a server off-site but would like it to remain a DC
for disaster recovery purposes, but we do not want it
authenticating logons, as this will generate extra
traffic and slow the login process for users.

Any advice is appreciated.

Rgds, Simon.

I haven't tried this in a production environment, but I would think
logically that you could just set the Netlogon service on the off-site DC to
manual startup? Then if you needed it to start authenticating logons, just
start the service back up again (and set it back to automatic startup, if
necessary.)

Somebody else chime in if I'm forgetting something, but I don't think that I
am.

Sounds good to me - knew there had to be a simple
solution! Many thanks for your help, Rgds, Simon.

I woul;dn't stop the netlogon service. Put this DC in a seperate site and
put the sitelink cost to a very high value. This should keep clients from
traversing the link unless their local and closer DCs are all down/busy.
