I've got a system which frequently re-boots causing a stop code in Event
Log. The most frequent is 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbf80e4e2, 0xaaaa2c34,
0x000000000). Is there anywhere I can find out what's causing it? I've got
WINDOWS XP fully patched including SP2.

Verifier.exe is the tool MS suggests using to find bad drivers. The problem
is that is doesn't work too well. Using the process of elimination by
removing one driver at a time should find the bad driver. Did you have the
problem before SP2? If not , include SP 2 in the elimination process. Good
Luck , JJ.

I like this site as a starting point for researching stop errors:
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

And of course there is:
http://support.microsoft.com/ph/1173/en-us/

Also, if you have Help and Support setup to search the Knowledge Base when
online, you can type a stop error code into that search box. Relative
articles should show up in the search results section dedicated to the
Knowledge Base.
