I have a dell c600 Latitude computer given to me by my son who has lost the
xp pro cd as he just moved. Is there any advice as to how I might resolve
the issue. I can't even boot in safe mode. I even tried knoppix and it
will boot to the logo and then goes into an endless loop. Thanks for any
help you can give me. Ray Holt

If the machine automatically reboots when you use a Knoppix CD then it
is almost certainly a serious hardware failure that is causing the
reboots. Overheating is one prime possibility, especially with a
laptop, so check the CPU cooling fan and make sure the air vents are
not clogged with dust.

Good luck
