I just reinstaled windows xp home dutch version. Windows
messeneger is always in the systray.
I know there is a register key that prevents msn /
windows messneger from automatic startup and there is
also a register key that stops the dropdownlist in the
messneger startscreen.
I received it from this forum from J.McKay months ago but
didn't save them.
So my question: can u send me those register keys again
plz.
Thanks a lot!

Greetings Ralph,

There's no registry key to prevent them from automatically starting; you can simply open each
up, click the Tools menu, then Options, then Preferences or General tab (depending on
version), and uncheck the automatic settings.

To stop the drop down list however, just download and run the following .reg file:

You'll need to reboot to see the change.

Hi ... I'm curious if you meant to remove the messenger altogether ??? If so
you can try this >>> click the start buttom and then the Run command , In
there add this link
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

click ok and restart your computer , which will remove the messenger off
your computer ... Is this what you wanted ??? beepbeep
