Stop and Start Music Problem

I have PPT 2003. Have one music track as an MP-3 file which I've successfully
inserted into one slide. I am trying to start the track, have it play for 30
seconds through two slides and then stop. Then on click have it start from
the last position in slide #3. Thus the presenter "starts" the music on one
slide, it plays through a second slide and stops automatically. Then he talks
and starts the music again on slide #3 on click from the last position. Is
this possible? I can have the music play continuously through the slides with
no problem but can't figure out the above.

Short of using and audio editor to create smaller clips
for each slide you can do the following (PPT 2002/2003):

Insert the same clip into slides 1 and 3.

For the slide one and two sequence, set your transition
to "auto transition" after ___secs. (for slide 1).
Depending on the timing you select, the slide will
automatically advance to slide 2. You will also need to
set you sound to automate for 2 slides by doing the
following: go into Slide Show > Custom Animation. Open
the animation sequence for this sound and go into "Effect
Options". Her you can set the animation to stop after two
slides.

If the sound needs to stop in a certain spto, instruct
the presenter to hit click at the part you want to end on
slide two.

For slide three, go into Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Open the animation sequence for this sound and go
into "Effect Options". Here you can select "Start
Playing" to determine when you want the clip to start
(where it ends on slide 2.

Hope this helps.

Remember, it's all in the Presentation(SM)

Sandy, Thanks much. It all works UP UNTIL I try to get the last slide
playing the music FROM THE POINT THAT IT STOPPED PREVIOUSLY. I tried the
timing/effects settings "from last position", but that slide always starts at
the very beginning of the music once again. I don't seem to be able to get
the "from last position" working, I've tried it a few times.
