Stop a Running Anti-Virus Program In WIndows 2000

Any suggestions on how to SAFELY stop anti-virus program
while it's running?
I tried Removing program in Safe Mode (as suggested on
this newsgroup) but it is NOT listed
in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM like I thought it would be.
Also, I checked out the AV website - but unfortunately
they are in GERMANY and explanations there are not
clear in English. (Dumb of me to download from
a foreign website...never again.)

Any help appreciated.

What's the product? Perhaps someone's familiar5 with it, or the
Germglish you say they use.

WHen I start up the computer it momentarily goes to the
icon screen, but then the "AV Guard" Program starts and
asks me what I want to do with infected files: Rename,
Move, Remove or Delete,but the instructions that came with
the program don't make it clear What each of these
selections does and which one I should pick.
I can't access any other programs. I went into SAFE
MODE.. so I could uninstall in ADD/REMOVE Programs, but
it's not listed there.
Someone from your newsgroup suggested I try the AV
website, but it turns out there is more info. with the
program than on the website.
