What are the (all)requirements and steps for setting up a
mail service within my existing Win2k network.

In W2K there is just SMTP functionality. In W2K3, there is now basic
pop3/smtp functionality.

Depends on your budget and needs. Exchange is NOT the only game in town for
mail services. (Sorry, Brian!)

On the Linux side, you may want to look at Postfix, which is bundled with
RedHat (and is also not susceptible to all these Win* virii and worms.). On
the Windows side, you may want to look at Imail, which is very easy to use
and set up.
