Once in a while, my system slows to a crawl. Checking the Task Manager, I
see that the idle percent has gone to almost nothing. The process stisvc is
chewing up 95-98 percent of my systems resouces.
This module's properties say it's also called stimon, and has to do with
STatic Images - whatever that means. The MS Knowledge Base was of no help.
I've not wanted to just kill the process, since I don't know what stisvc is
doing. My only way to get back to a really working system is to reboot. My
system comes up running normally.
Questions:
+++ What is stisvc doing?
+++ What's a static image?
+++ What starts this process? Can I prevent it?
+++ Is it safe to shut this process down?
My Win2000 system is at the latest levels of service and patches.
Thanks.
