I have installed FP2003 but cannot use it ....
until MS ( or someone ) allows me to copy and paste from Word
and Excel - without ALL the extra code..
( Jim Buyens script does about 90% of the Excel stripping )

At least with FP2002, I can use NotePad and WordPad..........

I will "try" and be patient

What is stopping you from still using Notepad and WordPad?

I use FP 2003. I drag Word files onto an open page in FP with Windows
Explorer, and I do not get extra code. Try dragging instead of copying and
pasting.

dragging some Word text into FP2003 results
is THIS code:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: red">handout notes</span></p>
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

dragging a one-celled tabled into FP2003 results
in THIS code
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<table border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="border-collapse:
collapse; border: medium none; margin-left: -12.6pt">
<tr>
<td width="243" valign="top" style="width:182.0pt;border:solid
windowtext .5pt;
padding:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt">
<p class="MsoNormal">Wrap Up</td>
</tr>
</table>
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

FP2003 will NOT paste a table from WordPad
it will just paste the contained text

FP2002 - will

Did you drag the entire, closed, Word document from Windows Explorer into
an open FrontPage page?
When I do this I do not get any formatting, other than fonts if I have set
any. If a table is included, the cell widths are set.

better for Word

Excel is 'OK' too - except I get the whole
spreadsheet(s) - rather than just the cells I want
( at least there is no extra - stuff )

** still a bit of a "pain"
I get all by web posting info via Word or Excel emails...
I then have to edit out the stuff I don't want - then save
the file to my desk top - then drag-and-drop

oh-well ------ :{)

thanks

Can't comment on Excel since I do not use it.
You could drag and drop the entire Word document into a temporary FP page
(which should remove the MSO formatting), then cut and paste the bits you
need to where you need them - this might be easier than the method you
describe below.

You could copy your Word document as another Word document, edit out the
parts you don't want, and save it. Then, with Windows Explorer, you drag the
document from an Explorer window onto an open page in FP. The document will
convert perfectly, and you won't get any extra formatting. I do it all the
time.

I owe you big for that drag and drop trick you posted a few months ago.
I've got a customer who sends word docs all the time and it's a decent
enough way to "convert" them.

Thanks!
