Still having DB issues...

S

Steve Grosz

I've written a couple of times, but never seem to get a response as to why
this is happening.

I've copied my last old message here for everyones review. I've created a
simple database to store contact info. Put it in the FPDB
folder within FP2003. When I'm working with my form, verified that the
database connection was good, could see all the fields in the database, and
assigned the form fields to match up with the fields in the database.

I then posted it to my web server. When I enter test data into the form,
and press submit, I get the confirmation form. Problem comes along when I
open up the database. There's nothing in it!!!

If you'd like to see the form, here's the link:
http://www.scootervilleusa.com/MailList.asp

Any assistance would be appreciated, this is quite frustrating!!

So far I've made sure that all the folders and files associated with this DB
have complete access for all users, and even tried to add the admin
name/password in FP2003 in regards to the database.

Help!!

Double check that the folder and the database file has <IUSER_Machinename>
read/write permissions directly on the server. If the server has the FP2002
extensions, then open the web on the server, then Tools | Web Setting |
Database and verify or re-create the database connection, and then FP should
set the correct folder and file permission on the fpdb folder and set up the
global.asa file.

Thomas,

Thanks for the suggestions. My issue is this, on my server, yes, I'm
running FP2002 extensions. I store my FP files on my local computer, not my
server, and FP is only installed on the local machine, not the server, so
how do you open the web on the server? Do I have to install FP on the
server too? IUSER_machine was set up as a full access account.

Thanks for all the help.

Steve,

FP doesn't need to be installed on the server.

On your local machine, File Menu | Open Web and enter the http://servername
or http://ipaddress of the server, then your login info, then once open, you
should be able to access the web settings and create/verify the database
settings.

Clarification:

FP doesn't need to be installed, but the FP2002 extensions need to be
installed if you are using features of FP2003 that require them, otherwise
you will need to have the SharePoint Services installed.

Ok, now I'm getting a error message of:

DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=URL=fpdb/new_page_1.mdb.

The following error message comes from the database driver software; it may
appear in a different language depending on how the driver is configured.

Source: ADO
Number: -2146824584 (0x800a0e78)

What is this all about??

Try removing any permissions you manually assigned directly to the folder
and database, then run a check on the extensions and let FP correct the
permissions.
