Still Can't Sign Into Windows Live Messenger 8.0

I have lost connectivity to Live Messenger since this morning. I noticed my
account was signed out so I tried to sign back in and the hourglass just sits
there till the sign in times out.
I haven't changed anything just prior to that point. I tried to edit my
hosts file and add in the suggested mappings. I am using IMSecure Pro and I
exited that program. I am using Norton Internet Security 2006 and I disabled
all of that. Nothing worked.

I saw some guy from Microsoft in his bog say that an issue with some Zone
Labs software was identified as causing the problem and they are working on a
solution. While, I am not using that software. I hope Microsoft is working on
a solution soon for all of us affected by this.

I depend on Messenger to communicate with people around the world every day.
This is a big inconvenience for a lot of people. Please get it fixed soon.

I am having the same problem. I rebooted earlier today and since then I have
not been able to sign into Messenger. I can through the web site but not the
actual service. I asked some friends in Canada and they are not having the
same problem. Seems to be a U.S. thing. Can we PLEASE get this fixed!

Greetings Martin,

Try the following -- shut down Messenger entirely by right-clicking on its icon in the
notification area and choosing Exit, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/remove_msgrsettings.reg

Then try signing in again.
