i have a diamond multimedia 32 mb stealth III video card installed.

when i run games i make with blender 3d, they run choppy.

then i tried installing the windows 98 drivers for it, it ran smooth, but
the mouse was flashing around(which, in fact, was VERY annoying)

whats up with this?

You are running XP but tried to install windows 98 drivers.
You have to download and install the XP supported video driver only.
Visit the manufacturer's website and download, install the latest video
driver.

In addition to Mr. Sengupta's excellent advice, your video card is old
and severely underpowered for heavy graphics work. Consider upgrading
to a new video card. You don't have to get top-of-the-line, but a newer
card with more video memory will provide much better performance for
you.

MS video drivers are very minimalistic. They should only be used if you
want to have problems. The best source for drivers is you video card
manufacturer or the video card chipset manufacturer.

The best source for any peripheral device driver comes from
its maker. Regrettably, Diamond Multimedia departed from the
video card arena shortly after the Stealth III. While a driver
might appear in the Windows XP cdrom, there is no guarantee that
this driver was a final version for Windows XP or simply just a
beta version. This video card may just be simply obsolete for
Windows XP.

thanks for the advice.

what graphic card would you recommend? i am willing to pay up to about $60.

i have a pentium III 700 mhz processor...im not sure what ill be able to do
with that.....any advice?

There is one more issue that comes up...does the motherboard
have an AGP slot? IIRC, the Stealth III's were PCI (not PCI-E)
video cards. But if an AGP slot exists, a GeForce FX 5200, at
around $50.00 would be quite good, with 128 MB of RAM.

im pretty sure it does.

but what 3d games would i be able to run with 256 mb of ram and a pentium 3
700 mhz processor?

You would have to look at the system requirements for the various games
in which you are interested.
