[STATS] Posting statistics past 7 days for ACF

SINNER

This should quell much of the arguing in this group regarding Tramp's
posts.

Just a few quick notes: I download every article and every header
in this group as long as its not been crossposted to more than 3 groups.
You will notice that even if you did the same thing and came here only
once per week, you would only be downloading 3.5 megs of data. If done
daily about .5 meg for EVERYTHING. Even on dial-up that is less then
minimal.

Hamster can be used with ANY widows client and aid in filtering
without downloading the whole article so there is really no excuse to be
complaining. After looking at the results, the 2 threads bitching about
the guy that does the most for the group, takes up the most space, very
silly. Consider this my vote for Tramp to continue doing what he doing
and ignore the naysayers. So, without further delay, the stats:

The tonnage stats are not "normal" due to Tramp discussing (defending)
his posts to many people and many expressing preferences, rather than
the few informative posts we had before discussing it.

I got a surprise when I saw my name on many of the lists. I'll be more
judicious sin the future.

<news:[email protected]_of_hell.INVALID>:
Way cool. Is this the same script that's available at his page
<http://homepage.ntlworld.com/garryknight/linux/perl.html#newsstats>?
If so, does it work on the Hamster spool just by pointing it there and
specifying a newsgroup, or do more modifications need to be made?

Yes, same one. I dont think it will work with hamster, I believe it ONLY
works with leafnode. It requires that each post is in its own file and I
believe it wants the *nix folder structure as it looks for the files in
/var/spool/news/group/name/here and all I supply is the group name and a
few other variables (defined in the script.)

Ah, well. Thanks for the info, and thanks for posting the stats.

Great stats - just goes to show how prolific Tramp is and how long-winded
Blinky is !
</haha>

WRT to Blinky, that's unfair. He's a consistent bottom-feeder in
original text content whenever I happen to look at stats. Blinky's not
long-winded--he's just chock-full of short winds ;O)

I'm going to take that as a compliment. Yeah, that's the ticket.

(You're right, of course -- if I was #20 in posts, and #2 in volume,
*then* I'd be longwinded. As it is, I only break wind a little bit at a
time...)
