static over soundcard!

I can hear static (crackling) on my speakers, especially with mouse
movement! I have 2 soundcards (SB Live! and Vibra128), it happens on both
cards, whichever is set as the default soundcard. There are no IRQ conflicts
or anything. Any suggestions?? please help me out!

It probably has nothing to do with the sound cards, you
prob have checked that they are even in correctly also so
just try a different speaker or see if the speaker wire
has a break in it somewhere.....
that would cause a lot of crackling

In that you have the problem with both of your soundcards, that would rule them out as the culprit for static noise
Recommend you get with a friend with a PC and borrow his speakers and plug them in to see if those will work properly
It sure sounds like a speaker problem and not the soundcard nor WindowsXP. If your friends speakers also emit static, then you'll have to troubleshoot your system for items as proper grounding, etc.
