Startup prog. causing windows to start slowly

I have Vista Home Premium, and in Control Panel, performance info & tools, Advanced tools, I get this:
Startup Programs are causing Windows to start slowly.
When I click that, this is what shows:
Name: Service Executable
Filename: MsMpEng.exe
Publisher: Microsoft
Date: Oct. 5, 2007
Time taken: 37.3 seconds.

However, that program does not show up in the start menu, running msconfig.

Any ideas?

MsMpEng is Windows Defender. Try turning it off & rebooting to see if
that speeds up the boot process.

If you have another antivirus / antispyware on the box, you can leave
defender off safely & the 2 programs could be "argueing" with each
other.

Otherwise hit windows update & make sure defender is fully patched &
updated before turning it back on.

Cheers!

OK, thanks. I have Windows Live OneCare, and it turns Defender off. So I don't see why it's causing a slowdown as reported. I may just see if I can uninstall Defender.

Well don't guess I can, doesn't show up in Cont. panel change or remove programs.
