Hi,

I'm running Win2k on a IBM Thinkpad, and begining a few
weeks ago, everytime Windows start up, I'm stuck with a
blank screen (with the desktop background colour).

I bought up the process list by ctrl+alt+delete, and saw
that there are multiple instances of a file
call "javavs32.exe", they keep dissappearing and
reappearing.
And by trying to race them and End Process on all the old
ones before the new ones shows up, Windows continues to
start normally and everything is working perfectly. (this
took 15 mins + )

This happens again everytime the comptuer is restarted.

Can some one please let me know how to fix it? We did
several virus scan with Norton, online Housecall scan,
Windows Update, CWShredder (IE's also hijacked to some -
random-name.dll file), AdAware, Spyware S&D, etc, but the
problem still comes back every time the computer starts.

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.

Locate javavs.exe, then rename it to something else and
see what happens.

You should also run msconfig.exe (http://www.svrops.com/svrops/dwnldoth.htm)
to examine your startup tasks. Disable those that look suspicious.

Didn't manage to find anything suspecious in msconfig, but
I've renamed javavs.exe and the computer restared fine
after that.
