did anyone find a way of customising Vista to say starting up Vista as the
PC is loading it rather than just the black screen with a green bar going
along?

thanks,

Andy.

You can select the "No GUI boot" option in MSConfig under the "Boot Tab".
That'll give you a picture instead of the standard black screen.

Don't know if it's possible to choose your own.

they could have even written "Starting up Windows Vista (Basic or Premium
or whatever)" or Welcome to Windows Vista next to the copyright information
and this would not have made it any longer to start up surely.

Thanks, tried it and it works good. It don't slow it down too much and it
looks much nicer as it starts up now. - Thing is though its a shame it goes
from that screen, then the ORB, then Welcome before it finally gets to the
wallpaper/desktop. In an ideal world I would like it to go from the new
startup screen I have created and for the next screen to be the desktop
cutting out all the other crap as it starts.

Andy.
