Startup Items

Hi:

What are the minimum startup items that are needed to be loaded with Windows XP Home Edition? I want to be sure that System Restore and other essential programs are loaded, but would like to minimize them to the extent that I can to allow faster startup and sign off.

Thanks

- for tweaking services running at startup go to www.blackviper.com;
- for tweaking programs running at startup download Spybot Search & Destroy; in the advanced mode navigate to Tools/System startup; if you click one of the listed programs here you get additional information based on Paul Collins Startup List; you can enable or disable a program simple by ticking or unticking the checkbox in front of it

Start> Run > MSCONFIG > Startup will give you a list of applications that
launch at startup. None are absolutely necessary to run Windows, however
you may have some items that provide essential or desirable support for
your hardware. Research what each startup item is. Make decisions on what
to allow or disallow.

To disable startup items, open the main program first. Look for a menu that
controls the startup behavior of the program and change the options to your
preferences. If no such menu is found, you may be able to disable the
startup item by removing the check mark next to it in MSCONFIG.
