Startup Disk

Hi Everybody.

I have one question about Startup Boot Disks.
In Windows XP they can be only created as floppy disks.
What can somone do who does not have a floppy drive?
Also rescue disks in Partition Magic can be only created using floppy disks.
Is there a way to make a Startup Rescue Boot CD (Not Floppy)?
If yes, please tell me how.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

First, the WinXP CD is bootable and should be able to load the Recovery
Console (see link below) for many repair operations. Second, the bootable
floppy you are referring to is a DOS startup disk and is not capable of
reading the files on an NTFS formatted volume, making it essentially
worthless as far as helping to recover an XP system in most cases (very few
still choose FAT32 as the file system).

If you want a bootable recovery disk that has some functionality, look into

The previous posts were all correct, but something else you would do would be
to download a bootdisk, open it with winimage (even the executable ones will
often open), save it to a .ima file and burn a boot cd with the ima file
speciified as the boot floppy. With this, you can add as much software to the
cd as you would like and have the cd bootable.
