startup and program problems

When I start XP, sometimes, not all of the progams load
and my computer runs slowly or freezes up on progams,
like roxio CD burner....I have tried reinstalling the
problem programs but no help.....My virus protection is
up to date and shows no problems and when I check devises
it says they are working properly. If I unplug my
computer, then replug and restart it will work for a
while then starts freezing again....Any suggestions?
My computer is a new Dell and worked great for a couple
of months....If I call dell I`m on the phone for a long
time only to find out I`m calling the wrong dept. and
have to start all over.....Help!

Yes, I know it's frustrating to deal with Dell's tech support, but that
is what you will have to do. It sounds like you are having hardware
failures, probably the RAM.
