Starting sound immediately beginning with first slide.

Have added a continuous sound file to play through 18
slides. My problem is that there is a great lag in
starting the sound after the first slide appears. The
first slide appears and then after 4 full seconds the
music starts. How can I get the music to start as the same
time as the first slide is appearing? The music is timed
to play and end within a time constraint.
The same problem occurs with the slide numbering
footer...the slide numbers lag 2 behind the opening of the
slide.
Appreciate any help.

Have you moved the sound object to the top of the custom animation list. open custom animation under slide show. Select the sound object to see if the object appears there then move it to the top of the list. That is the only way I have been able to get the sound to start first.

Had not been aware of the custom animation. Will look into
