Starting Over

I'd like to start over with Windows XP Pro - my hard drive is full of crap after a year of use. Is there a step-by-step procedure available anywhere for re-installing Windows? I have the original XP Pro installation discs. I'd like to wipe the slate clean (I'll burn any files I need to disc). Thanks very much.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD and follow the prompts for a
clean installation. It will do the reformat for you.

You can find detailed instructions here:

Set BIOS to boot CD before HD, and boot the XP CD direct. Enter Setup,
and after the license agreement take New Install. When it asks you to
confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the current partition and make
a new RAW one to be formatted at the next stage

The important point is the delete. Without that it will just go ahead
and make a new install over the top of the old one
