Starting Account Problem

Hi all....... I have a somewhat minor problem that I thought I might
look into solving. Running xp home. I have 2 accounts on my computer,
mine which is set as administrator and the guest account. When the
computer starts from off the account that appears is not mine. I have to
log off and then log in my account to make it accessible. Is the guest
account loading first? If so how can I change it so my account logs on
first? Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Go to Start - Run and type the following command then press enter:

control userpasswords2

On the Users tab, make sure "Users must enter a user name and password
to use this computer" is unchecked.

This didn't work. After rebooting a window came up saying "cannot log on
this account is restricted", what does this mean?. Then another window
with a log on screen. I clicked on my account and it loaded but with my
settings missing. I clicked log off and then logged on again with my
account and everything is ok. Other than add another click to the
startup procedure this did nothing.

Where you by chance using the hidden Administrator account for everyday
use?
I don't know Bert. I never heard of this before. Why would there be a
hidden account? How can I determine if this is in fact the case?

thanks

Many people disable the guest account for security reasons. You can do that
by going to the Control Panel and Administrative Tools under Computer
Management select local user groups and the users. Right click guests and
click properties-check box Account is Disabled. Alternatively if you just
want the PC to remember who last logged on I think this registry setting
might do that

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system]
Double click on
"dontdisplaylastusername"

And set the Dword value to 0 so it looks like this.

dontdisplaylastusername"=dword:00000000
